What it takes to wear a lace front wig.
What is a lace front? A lace front is a wig that has lace at the front of the wig that attempts to create the illusion of being natural. The illusion being attempted is making the hair seem as if it growing from the scalp of the person wearing it.
Before wearing a lace front wig, a lot of people like to customize it in different ways to fit the unique shape of their head and hairline and for the unique color of their scalp. Before you can wear the wig the lace must be cut and if you choose to do so the knots must be bleached, tinted or tanned. In the video included below, youtuber BrionnaLaRoux gives an excellent tutorial for beginners:
If you are wary of bleach and spray tan, there is a no bleach method by So Char.
Unless you are bald or short haired, you must prepare your real hair by flattening it so that you can fit the wig on your head. The flatter you want your install to be, the smaller and neater your under wig braids or hairstyle should be.
If all of these tutorials fail you, there is no shame in having someone else braid your hair, whether it be just a friend or professional.
There are many ways to apply a lace front wig. You can use glue, tape, band, gel or sew it down. This article is not for the purpose of saying which is better than the other, just to teach.
Now that you've learned what to do with your real hair and with the wig, surely you're wondering what should be done at bed time. Some people take off their wig every night, some do not.
Lace front wigs can be quite expensive. I compiled a list of inexpensive options.
To the right of this text is the original thread I did of affordable lace front wigs. Unfortunately for you who is reading this, I made this while there was a 50% off sale going site wide. Don't worry the wigs are still much more affordable than what you will find others recommending. If you have any questions feel free to #followme and DM me on Twitter @napturaihair
For those of you who would like to purchase or browse wigs without looking at the thread on twitter go to this page and bookmark it on your desktop so you can always find it. The formatting on that website may be off and I do apologize for that. If you buy a wig or learn anything mention me or DM on twitter. Thank you for reading.
