Starting or Upgrading Your YouTube

Not only is everyone talking about YouTube, everyone is watching it. We know that YouTube is a money-making hub. You can go from doing it as a hobby to a career. Of course, you may not be the biggest YouTube star but some extra cash would be great for helping with student loans or getting your hair done.

According to Forbes:

  • By 2021, around 82% of internet traffic will be for video.

  • There are 1.57 billion monthly active YouTube users around the entire world. 30 million are active daily users.

  • If you enable ads, for every thousand views you can make a few dollars. (Producing quality content will prove lucrative.)

Before You Go Buy That Camera:

Of course, you need the proper equipment to run a YouTube and entertain your audience but there’s a few things to know before running to Amazon.

Find Your Target Audience.

The first step to doing this is by using basic demographic information. For example: age, location, gender, etc.

Identify Your Niche.

Identify your passions and interests and what problems you intend to solve within those.

Schedule. Schedule. Schedule.

Consistency is the key to growing a social media following. Create a schedule for posting videos. In case life gets busy, you become sad, your camera breaks down, etc… have back up videos that you can post to stay on schedule.

Starting YouTube With $100 or Less

Use your phone as your recording device. If you have an iPhone 7 or better your video quality should be pretty good. To hold your phone up, use a tripod:

$14 Portable Tripod for iPhone & Android https://amzn.to/2x8esxq

$12 Aluminum Camera Phone Tripod: https://amzn.to/2NaF7ne

If you have a MacBook, you can use that as a recording device.

Use a professional microphone for clear audio. These days in the 2018 YouTube streets, audiences are no longer tolerating poor audio quality. People will quickly exit your video and hit the thumbs down.

If you don’t have a clean area in your home or dorm to video record, it’s best to use a backdrop to keep the focus on you and your content rather than the items in the background.

If you already have a following or you are ready to dive head first in to the YouTube world and would like to make a greater investment in to your budding channel, here’s a list of extra equipment to use:

  • If you’re interested in fancy vlogging, for $699 you can buy the GoPro here https://shop.gopro.com/cameras/fusion/CHDHZ-103.html.

  • If you’d rather vlog on a budget, for $55 you can get this waterproof action capturing camera that comes with rechargeable batteries and a few accessories. In addition to this it has free shipping, which I believe makes it the better deal. Here is the link: https://amzn.to/2CTmAHl

  • Although, if you want to be like your favorite youtuber and still get a GoPro here’s a waterproof one for $190 https://amzn.to/2xhqJPs

  • The Canon EOS 70D Digital SLR camera is quite popular among established youtubers. It costs $830 on amazon and you can find it here https://amzn.to/2xagsFo

  • This Canon DSLR is $500 cheaper than the one mentioned above https://amzn.to/2xht50q

  • This Sony camera is a budget friendly option for youtubers here it is for $88: https://amzn.to/2QsPZe7

  • The best YouTube microphone is the Blue Yeti and it is a little over $100. You can find it on amazon here https://amzn.to/2CRLPKf

Once you’ve gotten your equipment, you’ll surely want a return on your investment. Monetizing your YouTube is the best way to do this. However monetizing has gotten a little harder. You need to have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time. Luckily for you, I am more than happy to be a subscriber, whether I’m your 1st, 10th or 999th. Leave your YouTube channel in the comments below.

Also, thank you for reading and if you would like to donate to help me secure a domain for the next 3 years that would be wonderful and I am super thankful! paypal.me/napturalhair
